"In over two decades in family ministry, I have never met a senior who didn't truly value independence."
Judy's heart for seniors began some time ago. Having studied and prepared for a life of service, Judy discovered her passion for the senior population. For over two decades, she has had the opportunity to help meet the needs of many seniors. "This has truly been a 'ministry of presence' for me. I love seniors for their wisdom, wit, and wonderful stories.
It's a privilege to help them to live safely and comfortably in their home with dignity and respect, no matter what their age or disability. Village Senior Care is a result of my desire to help seniors remain in the familiar surroundings that they dearly love."
Judy has been a leader in Stephen Ministry (a caring network of trained individuals that reach out to those in need), and has been trained in Clinical Pastoral Education at Alexian Brothers Hospital. Additionally, Judy holds a Masters Degree in Family Ministry from Concordia University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Theology.
"Having spent many years in law enforcement, I've seen countless people hurting and not being properly cared for."
Don's passion for the senior population comes from over 30 years in public service. While serving on the Chicago Police Department, Don developed a genuine interest in the needs and protection of seniors. "As officers, we are sworn to protect and serve others in their day-to-day living. Village Senior Care is the venue in which I can help to preserve the dignity that our seniors deserve. . . and help them with the challenges that they face each day."
Both Judy and Don have also experienced the personal side of caregiving with their own parents. Aside from their commitment to seniors, Judy and Don enjoy spending time with their five adult children and five grandchildren.
Kathy joined Village Senior Care in September of 2008. As the Community Relations Coordinator, she wears many different hats.
Building relationships between staff and clients and ensuring they receive the very best care is Kathy's focus. She nurtures our seniors and gives support to their families by helping them to remain safely in their own homes.
Kathy is also responsible for helping to develop the continuing education program. Our goal is to keep our caregivers apprised of any new developments which concern seniors, but also to provide them with the knowledge and skills to handle any situation. Kathy steps in to be "hands-on support" to our clients and caregivers when needed.
Kathy came to Village Senior Care with over 30 years of experience in customer care, most recently as an account manager for a national pharmaceutical wholesaler.
In her leisure time, Kathy enjoys her two grandchildren. She is committed to serving her church and community as a lay minister to seniors which she has done for 18 years. This experience has trained Kathy to equip others to serve with patience and compassion.
